The Journey Home
Thanks for trailing along.
Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. ~ Izaak Walton
The traditions and lifestyle of a cowboy are a lifelong journey. A tip of the hat goes out to these women, men, and families who are recognized as we celebrate the National Day of the Cowboy on the fourth Saturday of July. They are the ones who broke trail, work in the fields, wrangle cattle, work hard, and play hard to make way for the next generation to follow in their footsteps. Once read a book about a journalist who had taken a 'sabbatical' from his writing job to work on a ranch. His experiences basically summed up with a 'after the day is done, he could look back at all he'd accomplished and feel proud of all he'd done.' I think there is a sense of satisfaction that is 'earned' after a day working with and for our livestock. Enjoy every minute of it!
